🌿 Plants and Animals Live Together

Class 3 – EVS (Our Wondrous World)

🌱 1. Plants and Animals Stay Together

Wherever plants grow, animals, birds, and insects are also found. Plants give shade, food, and shelter to many creatures. Animals live on plants, under plants, and around plants.

  • 🐸 Frog resting on a leaf
  • 🐦 Bird singing on a branch
  • 🐿️ Squirrel hiding in a tree hollow
  • 🐛 Caterpillar chewing a leaf
  • 🦋 Butterfly sitting on a flower
  • 🐜 Ants making nests with leaves

🌳 2. How Animals Use Plants

Animals depend on plants for food, shelter, and rest. Without plants, many animals cannot survive.

  • 🐪 Camels – eat leaves
  • 🐒 Monkeys – eat fruits
  • 🦋 Butterflies & Sunbirds – drink nectar from flowers
  • 🐦 Squirrels, Crows, Owls – use tree hollows or twigs for nests
  • 🪺 Tailorbirds – stitch leaves to build nests

🌍 3. Life in the Soil

Soil is the top layer of the Earth. It is full of tiny bits of rocks, old leaves, roots, stems, and even remains of animals. This makes the soil rich and full of life.

Insects and small animals find food and shelter in the soil.

  • 🐜 Ants, termites, beetles, grasshoppers
  • 🪱 Earthworms, millipedes (especially during rains)

Rainy Season: Many new plants sprout and more animals appear.

🐦 4. Sounds of Birds

Birds make different sounds to talk to each other, to find food, or to warn of danger. We hear bird sounds best in the morning and evening.

Example: Pigeon says “Gutru Gu”.

🎧 Activity: Cup your ears with your hands to listen more clearly!

🍂 5. Observing Changes in Nature

Nature is always changing. If we look closely, we can see many small changes happening around us:

  • Soil looks, smells, and feels different after rain.
  • Plants shed old leaves and grow new ones.
  • Seeds hidden in the soil sprout when watered or when it rains.

🦋 6. The Life of a Butterfly

A butterfly’s life is full of changes. It goes through 4 stages:

  1. 🐛 Caterpillar hatches from an egg and eats leaves.
  2. It grows and then stops eating.
  3. It makes a cocoon (pupa).
  4. It comes out and flies away as a beautiful butterfly.

📖 Quick Recap
