The Clever Sparrow

Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a clever sparrow named Sumi. Sumi built her nest high in an old banyan tree, where she could see the whole village. Every morning, she flew down to the market to find bits of bread and grains. Sumi was not greedy; she only took what she needed and shared extra food with her friends, the ants.

One day, a big crow named Kaku saw Sumi’s nest. “What a fine nest!” he cawed. “I want it for myself.” Kaku was strong and could scare other birds, but Sumi was smart. She thought of a plan. She gathered shiny pebbles and placed them around her nest. When Kaku came to take the nest, he saw the pebbles sparkling in the sun. “Oh, treasure!” he thought and forgot about the nest. While Kaku was busy collecting pebbles, Sumi flew to the ants for help.

The ants marched to the nest and made a tiny army. When Kaku returned, the ants tickled his feathers. Kaku laughed and flew away, leaving the nest alone. Sumi thanked the ants and gave them extra grains. From that day, Sumi and the ants became best friends, and Kaku never bothered them again.

Sumi’s cleverness taught the village animals that brains are better than brawn. The banyan tree stayed peaceful, and Sumi’s nest remained safe.
